nintendo wiiI couldn’t believe it when I stumbled onto a Cnet article today about what the Nintendo Wii is hoping to be the next big thing from 505 Games. The movie Grease may have come out before many of us were born but it has left a soft spot in many musical fans’ hearts. The singing and dancing of John Travolta has inspired the next generation of music inspired games for the Nintendo Wii. There aren’t too many details about the game yet, past it will be out sometime this year. It is a song and dance game that the Nintendo Wii hopes to use to entice a new demographic of gamer. Instead of singing along and playing the guitar in titles like Rock Band, the Grease game will have players dancing while they sing.

I can’t figure out how that is going to work unless some kind of DDR type pad comes with the game to catch the steps. Not exactly my cup of tea but if done correctly the Grease game may spawn a new genre of interactive song and dance games. Songs like Grease Lighting attached above are attractive to a very narrow niche. It will be a lot of family fun though.
